Ceramic Artists

On Tuesday morning Kieran played us two videos about artists. The first was about John Ffrench. I was really inspired by his story. He had travelled the world and developed his own style of ceramics. He made things by hand using methods he had invented himself. His use of colour was amazing. He used bright vivid colours in his work, making them playful and childlike. This is some of his work.

The second artist that we were introduced to was Annie Turner. Her work is based on her surroundings. The river was a huge part of her work. I love the way she uses slips that crack and combust when fired so the pieces look like they were actually eroded by the river. I also like how she uses found objects in her work. It makes them more personal and intimate.
